Here's where I'll lay down the stories that were missed throughout the week. It's not to say these stories are insignificant. I just missed them.
- Another LA sports feud - We've witnessed the Shaq-Kobe-Phil feud and the subsequent implosion. Now we have the Becks-Landon feud. In SI writer Grant Wahl's new book The Beckham Experiment, Landon Donovan aired his grievances to Wahl about David Beckham. According to Donovan, Beckham missed a crucial game against the Houston Dynamo last year which they lost resulting in missing the MLS playoffs. Beckham also missed practices leading Donovan to question Beckham's commitment to the team. Beckham shot back last night after being a spectator to the Galaxy's 1-0 victory over Superclasico rival Chivas USA calling Donovan unprofessional for not speaking to Beckham first. Ok. So this isn't the same magnitude of Shaq-Kobe-Phil, but it has been a while since we've witnessed a nice in team feud.
- Broxton's big toe out - Jonathan Broxton's appearances in games recently have been quite interesting. After blowing the save in San Diego last Sunday and coming very close to blowing a six-run lead in Milwaukee on Friday, he finally fessed up. He's feeling discomfort in his right big toe which will cause him to miss the All Star Game on Tuesday. Broxton will not be placed on the disabled list, and Guillermo Mota will be the spot-closer in today's game if needed.
- UCLA athletic director Dan Guerrero among most powerful in college sports - The Orlando Sentinel compiled a list of the most powerful in college sports. UCLA athletic director Dan Guerrero made that list at number 12. Guerrero will be the chair of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament selection committee this coming season. Yes, he'll be leading the group in charge of selecting those 65 teams that will make it to March Madness. Making it at the top of the list is George Bodenheimer, ESPN/ABC sports president with NCAA president Myles Brand trailing at number two.
- Gatti murdered in Brazil - After everything surrounding Steve McNair's death, we find another death in sports. Arturo Gatti, 37, was found dead in his hotel room in Brazil. He was strangled to death by a purse strap. Brazilian authorities have detained his wife Amanda Rodrigues, 23, after inconsistencies found during her interrogation. Before Gatti retired from boxing in 2007, he was known as one of the most exciting fighters of his generation especially after his battles with Micky Ward. His career record was 40-9 with 31 knockouts.

Beckham makes me laugh. I don't disagree with the point that Donovan should have talked to him face-to-face, but at least Donovan was man enough to admit his mistake, publicly.
Beckham, on the other hand, whined his way into staying at Milan, and that came after his people brokered the original 3 month deal without letting the Galaxy know of his intent in the first place. That's real professional.
Talk about the kettle calling the pot black. I've also yet to hear Beckham admit publicly that perhaps the Milan loan wasn't brokered in the best manner or at least one that was more respectful of MLS/Galaxy or its fans.
I can't wait for the chorus of boos on Sunday night.
The Galaxy have been improving. I just hope that Beckham's return doesn't affect that. We're just 6 points out of first place, and if we were in the east, we'd be 1 point out of first place. Now is not the time to blow our chemistry.
