Today might be a little chaotic, but remember this: what usually would take months in planning was done in only a few days. Yesterday, various agencies alerted the media and public of closures to streets, freeway on and off-ramps and public transit service changes. Here's what you need to know...
Downtown
As of last night, a large area around the Staples Center/LA Live will be blocked off to traffic and anyone that is not one of the 17,500 ticket/wristband holders. City officials are asking everyone to stay home and watch the event on TV rather than clogging the streets with unneeded traffic. Still, hundreds of thousands are expected. Two ramps along the 110 Freeway will be closed: southbound Olympic Blvd. ramp and the northbound Pico Blvd. ramp.

Toluca Lake/Universal City: Due to the private Jackson memorial service at Forest Lawn Cemetary, Forest Lawn Drive between Barham and Zoo Drive will be shut down between 6 and 10 a.m. Both Forest Lawn Drive exits off the 134 Freeway will be closed as well as the 134 eastbound Riverside Drive exit. Encino: The Jackson family compound at Ventura and Hayvenhurst continues to attract fans.
Public Transit
The best way to get downtown tomorrow will be via public transit, but certain routes should be taken note of:
Metro: The Red, Purple, Gold and Green lines are expected to run as normal, but the Blue Line between Long Beach and downtown may experience delays or a temporary suspension due to it's proximity to the street closures and possible crowds. Over 50 bus lines will experience delays. More details here.
Metrolink: A few downtown-bound morning trains will have extra cars to accommodate increased ridership. In the afternoon, a few extra trains will be added to the schedule. More details here.
DASH: Various downtown DASH and Commuter Express buses will experience signifant delays, whether the lines travel through the closed area or not. Service should return to normal around 1 p.m. if conditions permit.
