Two Downtown locations of Famima!! want to pass on a secret involving a sweet treat. The convenience chain will be carrying Beard Papa's cream puffs at their stores on 6th Street (Pacific Center) and at 350 S. Grand Avenue (California Plaza) until the end of the month weekdays between Noon and 5 p.m., and they want to give you a taste for free. Between 10 a.m. and noon today through Thursday if you tell the Famima!! counter clerk "I don't have a beard" they'll give you one--one Beard Papa's cream puff, that is. There's a limit of one per customer for the freebie, mind you.

Discrimination? What if you really do have a beard? :(
I plan to lie and tell them I don't have a beard.
It would be so funny if this was a joke, and when you tell the clerk you don't have a beard, he just goes "that's nice... next customer."
That's why I always feel like such a nerd participating in the "secret phrase" sort of giveaway. Frankly, I'd be more likely to go up and say, "Hey, I heard there was some sort of giveaway this week with the cream puffs? What's that about?"
Apparently it was, because when I went up to get one at the Grand location they told me I needed a coupon from their website, despite saying the secret phrase.
Yet, there *is* no readily apparent coupon on their website.
So it leads one to wonder which is the rouse, the "i don't have a beard?", or the "i tried and failed."
Well, I'm going to try it today anyway. It's only a block from where I work.
The worst they can do is say NO!
It would be funny if they did say no,
to feign misunderstanding
and WINK
then repeat the phrase again very slowly
"I said... I don't have a beard.." WINK
and repeat it until they give it you....
I dunno tree, they'd prolly call the cops on me.
I just tried at 11AM Wednesday and they said no! The 350 S. Grand Avenue said they do not know of this 'Don't Have a Beard' they have something else for Beard Papa's that is going on Friday.

I've just re-confirmed this with the PR rep who passed this info to LAist. Here's the official word:
--The Pacific Center (6th st) and California Plaza (350 S. Grand) are participating in free samples.
--They have also pushed it back to July 10th (Friday)so between the hours of 11am-12pm on this extra day of the promo you will be able to receive a free sample by using the phrase alone.
--There's no coupon!
