NOLA Ice Burglary Demonstrates What Shop Owners Should Do

One of the most consistent tips police give retail business owners along Ventura Blvd. is to leave cash registers empty and open over night to show potential burglars there's nothing to steal. However, that doesn't mean they'll try anyway.

One night last week, the New Orleans Sno-Ball and Cupcake Shop, NOLA Ice and Se' La Vi Sweets in Sherman Oaks, became a victim when a man threw a rock through their front glass door at 3 a.m. He headed toward the register where only a minimal amount of cash--$20--was left over night and made his way out (dude, you missed the awesome cupcakes!).

Luckily, their security camera caught him on tape, which is aiding police who have been dealing with a string of similar smash and grabs in the area.

For God's sakes why would you not cover your face? I would think shows like CSI would make a generation of more paranoid criminals but I guess not...
