God Hates Fred Phelps: Westboro Baptist Church to Protest Jackson Memorial on Tuesday

From the Michael Moore's Awful Truth, Season 2 (1999-2000)

The beyond ironically-named "Love Crusades" of Westboro Baptist Church is on its way to Los Angeles to demonstrate at Michael Jackson's memorial. The crusades are part of a hate-based mission started in Kansas by the WBC and Fred Phelps in order to picket the funerals of people who had died of AIDS, demonstrate against the "fag lifestyle" and other loving Christian activities. It appears their main beef is well, Michael Jackson's very existence, his death, and any mourning by anybody. If you are still unclear, here is the official announcement from the website's picket schedule. I am intentionally not linking to their site, because this is probably more attention than they deserve already.

07/07/2009 Staples Center - Michael Wacko Jacko Jackson is in hell! 1111 S. Figueroa St WBC will be there to remind you to stop worshiping the dead. We will be there to tell you to Thank God for the death of this filthy, adulterous, idolatrous, gender-confused, nationality-confused, unthankful brute beast. We will be there to remind you that God Killed Wacko Jacko. There is a God, and a Day of Judgment. For you to wallow and murmur against God for his righteous Judgments is sin and will cause YOU to join Michael in hell

Imagine the most peaceful soft-focus picture of Jesus you have ever seen. Now try to imagine Him carrying a sign saying "GOD HATES FAGS". Who the hell are these people to tell us who God likes or doesn't like? God can give us a flood or plague of locusts and tell us Himself.

It's quite sad that we live in an age where hatred grips the majority as a self righteous addictive ego-booster, an easy out from the complicated ambiguous nature of life itself.

If there is indeed a God, logic would follow that he most likely hates HATE.

"Who the hell are these people to tell us who God likes or doesn't like?"

Crazy people. Duh.

The WBC won't get anywhere near Staples Center if the police are doing their job...as any member of WBC would be in physical danger from the overflow of emotionally charged people. People act different in large groups like this.

"nationality-confused"?

Yup. If you don't know what country you're from, you're going to Hell!

Westboro is funded by the Communist Party of the U.S. and other like-minded groups. By disguising themselves as fundy Christians, Westboro's true goal is the degradation of the First Admendment.

For once I have to agree with these guys!

For once I have to agree with these guys!

The more attention we pay to people like this, the more it fuels their appetite. Yes, we must fight hate - but there's no sense fighting with fools.

Pay no attention to these certain fools! Fin!

And just how many cops will be able to control 50,000+ fans who can't get in and who will vent their frustrations on Phelps and his gang? I hope there's a news helicopter to video the carnage when the WBC gets trampled into strawberry jam and staked with their own signs. I want popcorn when I watch that on the news.
