Photo Essay: Electric Daisy Carnival

More than 100,000 electronica fans descended on the L.A. Coliseum for a two-day experience last weekend featuring Thievery Corporation, Paul Oakenfold, Fedde Le Grand, James Zabiela, David Guetta, Benny Bennassi, Paul Van Dyk, Crystal Method, and so much more.

That's what 100,000 people look like in the Coliseum? What does USC get for football games? 1,000,000 people?

There were various stages around the Coliseum. I don't think there were 100,000 inside the Coliseum, although that was where the main stage was at. But with all the surrounding stages, coasters, and such, there was definitely a lot of people there.

Awesome photos, Ryan!

The official people count was 45K on Friday and 90K on Saturday for a grand total of 135K for the whole weekend! That's a huge rave!

what is this? the 2009 version of 1996?

great photos though.

Amazing photos. Great job Ryan :)

I dont get it. So is this a nostalgia act now?

@caliking

kids with candy bracelets and EDC in 1996.

1996
kooky kids with candy bracelets and baggy jnco denim

2009
kooky kids/adults with candy bracelets and neon skinny jeans.

harsh 2009 bonus
adults trying to relive their E popping days.

I always love it when people complain about adults hanging out at these sorts of things and having fun, whether they're doing drugs or not.

The true measure of maturity is knowing when it's still ok to act like a child.

The thing is, there's like this weird trend and stuff, of thinking that trying to vacuum the smiles out of a venue (analog or virtual) is like clever or something.

goofy souls know to smile and think,
"that dour one probably needs a hug, snack or a nap.""

Weren't all the adults saying the same thing about Ravers, Club Kids, and the electronica scene in 1996?? Nothing has changed. I know we all scoff at the kids in these raves and festivals, but that was us 10 years ago. If you don't want to hang out with the candy ravers, I am pretty sure they don't want to hang out with you. But I was glad to see so many people dancing to music in such a large venue.

130,000 people ? hmmm thats atleast 80,000 e pills taken in 2 days.. $1,600,000 profit for dealers
