This weekend's Fourth of July holiday and the many celebrations taking place all over Los Angeles means that it's time to remind the non-professional pyrotech-ies that fireworks are, in fact, not only illegal, but also dangerous.
The Daily News quotes County Fire Captain Mike Brown, who says: "The use of fireworks not only can cause fires, but can result in severe injuries and burns if not used properly."
In Los Angeles County, fireworks are illegal and are banned in all unincorporated areas and also in 26 cities served by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Further, only fireworks considered “Safe and Sane” are permitted in 32 cities served by the Department.
LA Co. Fire's website has a list of those areas available, as well as a link to information about professional fireworks shows you might want to check out, so you don't get burned by the law...or your foolish neighbor.

Any information on how to make a report? Not that I want to ruin anybodies fun, but my neighbors are notorious for shooting them off all night long. In fact the cops could make a mint just parking on my block and handing out tickets.
According to my Senior Lead Officer in past public meetings, call the police and use your judgement whether it should be 911 or non-emergency. If they are in or near a field of dry brush, I would say 911. If they are in a pretty urban part, non-emergency.
