Milk Serves Shaved Ice to Beat the Summer Heat

As the June gloom burns off, we have finally been enjoying some gloriously sunny days. We heard Milk was serving shaved ice and headed over yesterday to check it out. We arrived to find the shaved ice stand set up outside on the sidewalk in front of Milk. On the corner of Beverly Boulevard and Poinsettia, the line had already formed with people ready to try the cold summer treat.

To get shaved ice they ask you to pay at the cash register inside and bring you receipt outside to pick your flavor. They recommend to mix most of the choices with some sweetened condensed milk, to help the ice hold the flavor. They they go to work hand shaving the huge block of ice. As the chips fly off the block, no one complains. On a hot day, a little ice shower is a welcome treat. We ordered lemon mixed with strawberry syrup and fresh strawberries, dulce de leche, and mojito. All three were delicious, very cold, and very sweet- perfect for the summer heat.

Shaved ice at Milk is $3. We love the ice cream (mint), desserts (butterscotch pudding), and cookies (oatmeal cranberry cherry) too. Milk is located at 7290 Beverly Boulevard at Poinsettia.

big tits.

i think i was there while you were there. loved it! still thinking about the strawberry/dulce de leche combo. mmm.

Shaved ice is fine and all.

But if you want the best frozen treat in town, head over to Scoops . Best ice cream *in the world*.

No, really.

tsk tsk - this article piqued my interest enough to head over to MILK for lunch today. Sandwich was bland, salad was bland... OK so maybe the treats are better? Nope; the chocolate/vanilla ice cream sandwich wasn't much better.
And the place appeared a bit dirty.

Okay...is it just me or did they rip this idea off from Nola Ice? It seems a little TOO similar, especially with the condensed milk- which is how they do it in New Orleans- which is how Nola Ice does it.
Personally, I think the food looks better then it actually tastes. The moon pies taste like cardboard...
I'd rather head into the Valley for Nola Ice- they have more flavors and larger portions for $3. I think they have cupcakes now...also cheaper then Milk and from what I read on all the yelp reviews, they are suppose to be INCREDIBLE!
Yum...I think I'll head there this weekend...wedding cake flavor is my FAV!!!
