Fans React to Anaheim Angels Violence, Compare to Dodgers

angelsviolence.png After one death and a shooting this week, some fans are wondering what happened to their sweet Orange County Disneyfied Angels baseball experience. The LA Times takes a look, finding some interesting comments made on the internet: "In a ballpark that once had a no-alcohol section for families and won over youngsters with Disney promotions, fans have taken notice, erupting on message boards and on Twitter. Several threatened to stop going to games. 'Not willing to risk family safety because of gangbangers & thugs in SF, LA Dodgers, and now Anaheim Angels,' one fan wrote. Many took shots at the 'Los Angeles' in the Angels name. 'When did Angel Stadium turn into Dodger Stadium?' one person asked. 'Guess it really HAS turned into an LA team,' another wrote."

A few instances of violence does not make a lame park a historic ground.

"Not willing to risk family safety because of Mexicans in Los Angeles..." There I fix it for you because honestly thats what they were insinuating. Typical whiny WASPy Orange County reaction. Go doyers!

The sanctimony coming from Angels fans is ridiculous. They act as if Santa Ana, Fullerton, Anaheim, and Stanton don't have their own brand of miscreants.

"Typical whiny WASPy Orange County reaction."

Why do you assume a white person wrote that? North Orange County has a huge middle class Hispanic population where I grew up. They weren't particularly fond of LA, either.

Replace "typical whiny WASP" with "typical whiny spic" and you'll see how racist you sound.

Calling someone a "White Anglo Saxon Protestant" is not the same as calling someone a spic. That is all. I'd give you a deeper explanation but I don't want to hold you up. You're probably running late to your Klan rally.

Alright, you keep pushing for better race relations through derogatory slurs. It's been working out great so far.

Basically you're assuming that someone is a certain color based on what they said, when you have no evidence to the contrary. It's this idea that if white people dislike LA, well, they are just racist and are "afraid of Mexicans. I'm half-white and half-Hispanic and experienced mostly the Hispanic side of my family, and I love Southern California but I'm not indifferent to its problems, problems attributable to all ethnic groups.

Anyway, don't judge a book by its cover. If you think Orange County is all "WASP," as you say, you're as retarded as people who make baseless judgments about Los Angeles.

I hate the Angels and their stadium. I hate Anaheim. The very fact that they call themselves the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and that the fans didn't fight this and win goes to show what kind of organization and fans they are.

How is this allowed given they aren't even in Los Angeles county? It's amazing that Mayor Villaraigosa allowed this given the importance of the LA Dodgers to the city.

FAIL.

Yes, they fought it. Many fans expressed their disagreement with the name change. Of course, corporate interests won out.

But sports rivalries are fucking stupid anyway and fuck the Angels and the Dodgers.

North Korea, just nuke us already.
