Pencil This In: Artistic Teens and Free Movies Outdoors

ART
Drawings and paintings created by dozens of Ryman Arts program participants will be on display at the California African American Museum through July 12. Ryman Arts is a highly acclaimed, no cost, art program aimed at Los Angeles area teens and operating on the campus of USC. The program helps talented youth develop their artistic talents and evidenced in this exhibit. Free admission.

COMEDY
D.L. Hughley is back on west coast after his stint on CNN and is now getting back to his comedic roots. Hughley, an alumnus of the popular The Original Kings of Comedy tour offers comedic insights relating to current events and just about anything else. Tonight, he headlines at The Comedy and Magic Club in Hermosa Beach. $35 will get you into the show starting at 8 PM.

MUSICA
Cafe Tacuba, a group that needs little introduction to Rock en Español fans, makes an appearance at the Gibson Amphitheatre tonight. The legendary group from Mexico City features an interesting mix of music styles including ska, punk, hip-hop, and of course, traditional Latin sounds. Show starts at 8:15 PM.

FILM
Summer is finally upon us, but hasn't gotten to the point of providing us with the traditional stifling heat -- yet. That makes it the perfect time of year to enjoy outdoors as much as possible, especially the nice cool evenings. Westfield Century City mall has another incentive to get you outside: free movies. Head down to the Level 2 dining terrace for a free movie screening at 8 PM, or any other Wednesday through August 26th. Titles vary and tonight's movie happens to be Footlose.
