LAist Goes Shopping: Japan LA Pop Culture Shop

Just south of Melrose, and around the corner from Munky King, is Japan LA, a store filled with a tribute to all things cute.

Every year owner Jamie Rivadeneira, who frequently updates the store's blog with images of new retail items, plans a touring and shopping trip to Tokyo. The next one to Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto includes a visit to Puroland, home of Hello Kitty. The Super Mega Fun Tokyo Tour is August 11-18.

Before that this Saturday will be the store's 3rd anniversary from 7-11 p.m. There will be music by DJ NG, free cupcakes and snacks, a raffle with special prizes from Tokidoki, and the chance to take photos with Hello Kitty. Free gift bags will be available for the first 100 guests. And, of course, Japanese fashion is encouraged. You can RSVP for the Japan LA 3rd Anniversary Party to: info@japanla.com

648 N. Fuller Avenue, just off Melrose Ave., 5 blocks West of La Brea.

Okay, that's one insane steering wheel. Would that be a deal breaker on a first date?

Zach, an OG wheel cover like that? are you kiddin? any chick that mods her ride is a keeper

It depends, is she covering a tacky wooden lexus steering wheel? Then, im a fan.

I gotta say, while this store sounds neato, you can find much more supercutesy stuff in little Tokyo, which already is Japan LA.
