Gavin Newsom Reacts to Villaraigosa's Announcement

gavin-newsome-villaraigosa.jpg Shortly after LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced that he will not run for Governor, candidate Gavin Newsom released a statement. Looking for an endorsement? Probably. Doing what any good candidate should do? Yes. "I look forward to continuing to work with him, sharing our experiences as mayors, and collaborating on innovative solutions that will take California in a new direction... As Mayor Villaraigosa has said so eloquently recently, state government needs to change and I believe we can work together to make that a reality." The full statement is below:

As a fellow big-city mayor, over the past four years I have gotten to know and respect Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. He is a dedicated public servant who is making a difference for the people of Los Angeles every day.

His leadership is valuable to the people of California and the nation, regardless of the office he chooses to hold. His life story is an inspiration to millions of Californians and especially to Latinos everywhere.

I look forward to continuing to work with him, sharing our experiences as mayors, and collaborating on innovative solutions that will take California in a new direction.

As Mayor Villaraigosa has said so eloquently recently, state government needs to change and I believe we can work together to make that a reality.

Newsom needs to scoop up all the would-have-voted-for-Tony LA voters he can get:

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-losangeles-poll-jun182009,0,6836598.htmlstory#2010-gov

Tony: 38%
Brown: 31%
(Undecided): 14%
Newsom: 13%

I wouldn't have voted for Villaraigosa anyway.

I wouldn't have voted for Villaraigosa anyway.

wow... Vil cheated on his wife, so did Newsom. WTF with these guys. I wouldn't vote for these cheaters.

Newsome has my vote soley because he is dreamy.

It's funny, that in our culture, the cheaters who are McHotties get a free pass.

Though, hotties actually get a projected halo for anything they do. I want a time machine back to the 7o's - where goofy ruled instead of uber-coiffed, (or at least that's what the movies make it seem like.)
