Electric Daisy Carnival takes place this weekend, at Downtown LA's Memorial Coliseum & Exposition Park, Friday June 26th 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Saturday June 27th 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. This is an all ages event.
Insomniac's events have made people dance through their bedtimes since 1993. Never have they made insomniacs out of 100,000. That’s the goal for this year’s Electric Daisy Carnival, their largest annual event. Seas of people will dance away their economic woes in what should be the largest electronic dance music festival this city has ever seen.
Dance music has traditionally found itself split into two camps: nightclubs and raves. Each having a different set of rules to accompany a different set of music. EDC unites both groups of nocturnal revelers (the difference: tight clothes vs. baggy clothes) at one of the city’s most historic venues: The Coliseum.
Mash-up-loving rock kids have spent the past few years dancing their assess off. At EDC there’ll be enough music to go around, and for the first time in the event’s history, it’ll take two days.
Look for electronic dance music for adults, hipster electro, Euro-stadium trance, underground house, homegrown talent, people overdressed, neon, people underdressed, glow sticks, lots of bottles of water, and flashing carnival rides. But, you won’t catch me on any ferris wheels. I’ll be dancing on USC’s 40 yard line to Groove Armada.
LAist Picks: Friday: Thievery Corporation, Sound Tribe Sector 9, Boyz Noize, Fake Blood, Monsters of Jungle (Dieselboy, Evol Intent, The Upbeats.) Saturday: James Zabiela (daytime set,) Groove Armada, Kaskade, Crystal Method, Mark Farina, Dennis Ferrer, The Martinez Brothers, Simian Mobile Disco, Diplo, Major Lazer, Infected Mushroom, DJ AM, and LTJ Bukem.
Also appearing: Paul Oakenfold, Fedde LeGrand, Eddie Halliwell, Shiny Toy Guns, Paul van Dyk, David Guetta, Benny Benassi, Markus Schulz, Roger Sanchez, Le Casle Vania, DJ Hype, Andy C, Marky, and many more.

Being an Angeleno, it is a shame that I have not been to the EDC, Id love to go this time... Thievery Corporation is the shiiit
you nailed this one. electro is as mainstream as it's ever been, and that's a good thing. being a non-raver myself, and seeing the variety of people/styles attracted to some of these artists at much smaller venues, i can imagine the spectacle this will be on such a large scale.
Groove Armada might not spin:

EDC website has them still in the lineup.
