Pasadena Chalk Festival
600 local artists using 25,000 sticks of pastel chalk are turning the sidewalks of Pasadena into works of colorful art. This is the second and final day of the Chalk Festival...and when it's all over tonight, they're going to turn on the hoses and wash the artwork away. See it while you can! Head over to Paseo Colorado between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Free.
Outdoor Play Readings: Botanicum Seedlings
The outdoor play readings in the "Botanicum Seedlings" conclude today at 11 a.m. with Awake by Michael David, directed by Ann-Giselle Spiegler, an award-winning director for theater, film and music video based in Los Angeles. Theatricum regulars BarbaraTarbuck and Karen Reed are featured in this two-person tragic comedy. This is the third and final public reading debut of new work presented this month by The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum. Admission to the playreadings is free and open to the public; donations to support this series will be gratefully accepted. The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum is located at 1419 North Topanga Canyon Blvd. in Topanga, midway between Malibu and the San Fernando Valley.
John Cruz at Trader Vic's
Trader Vic's Los Angeles (at LA Live) is presenting Grammy Award winning Hawaiian singer and songwriter John Cruz in its summer concert series. Grab yourself a Scorpion Bowl cocktail, sit back, and relax and enjoy a live performance by this special musical guest. The show will starts at 7 pm.
HomoHop: Pick Up the Mic Party
Tonight it's the DVD release party and concert for PICK UP THE MIC, which is the landmark documentary on the evolution of homohop (LGBT hip hop). Live performances by JOHNNY DANGEROUS, JenRo, JB Rap, & Salvimex, and hosted by Foxxjazell. The party starts at 8 p.m. with red carpet arrivals at MJ's Bar (2810 Hyperion Ave).

I guess this would have actually been more of a Tonight In Rock thing though
Unless they are doing things differently this year, the chalk art usually is left around in Pasadena for a few days after the festival ends.
If they are washing it away tonight, I must admit that is kinda silly and sucks for all of the people that work in Pasadena and can't make it out there during the weekend when they might be spending father's day with their family doing other things.
There is also a Water for Darfur event at the courtyard at 88 N Fair Oaks Ave. with music, crafts and other entertainment.
