Looking for something different when it comes to movies? Did you ever think that someone could make an entire movie dedicated to the study of mushrooms? Ron Mann's latest film Know Your Mushrooms is a deep exploration into the world of mushrooms and includes a soundtrack by The Flaming Lips. Two screenings each night (8 and 10 PM) through June 19th at Downtown Independent Theatre.
TALK
The Mark Taper Auditorium at the Central Library hosts a night with journalist Amanda Fortini and Walter Kirn. They will be discussing Lost in the Meritocracy: The Undereducation of an Overachiever, which explores Kirn's journey from rural Minnesota to Princeton and the dangers of an education that places lesser value on actual enrichment and broadening of one's mind. Free, but $5 donation suggested. Discussion starts at 7 PM.
