Speed Limit on Beverly Glen to Increase & Decrease

30mph.jpeg If you've ever driven the 2.1 mile canyon-to-valley-floor stretch of Beverly Glen Boulevard, you probably have noticed that it changes throughout, telling you to go 25 mph, now 35, oh wait, now 30. The city's Department of Transportation now wants to change the sporadic nature by splitting the baby with a uniform 30 mph from Mulholland to Moorpark in Sherman Oaks. "It will be easier for motorists to monitor their speed as well as for the police to enforce using radar," said John Fisher, Assistant General Manager of LADOT. Once an ordinance is drafted, it will be submitted to the Transportation Commission for consideration.

Wait a darn minute. I thought the only way to enforce speed limits was to raise it.

30mph? Really? I drive that stretch of road daily...40mph would be more appropriate.

I live on Beverly Glen Blvd. and cannot sleep at night without ear plugs. Drivers whip through this area forgetting that this is a residential area. Families live here. Not only should the speed be reduced to 30 mph throughout, but the police ought to enforce it rigorously. Those who use the glen for a shortcut to avoid the 405 should be discouraged to do so through any means necessary -- speed bumps, ticketing, signs that flash your car's speed, etc.

If you're in a hurry, take the freeway.
