Phil Willion on the LA Times "LA Now" blog reports that the City of LA found enough private donors to cover their $1 million share of the Lakers parade Wednesday. Previously it was agreed between Staples Center owner Anschultz Entertainment Group would split the $2 million cost evenly with the city. There will be a news conference later this afternoon announcing this plan.

Great! Now if only they could raise money for schools, public services, and an all female newscaster development program for Mayor Tony, we will be in business.
Fuck a parade!
I think the Lakers, Anschultz Entertainment Group, and who ever else, should donate that money to cover the losses to all the businesses that got looted and/or vandalized last Sunday night.
seriously, it took a day to get a million. im sure the donors (especiall broad) give plenty but just makes you wonder...
