Dyke Day L.A. 2009 March: 'We Are Human'

The annual Dyke Day L.A. march and celebration took place Saturday, moving from the top of the hill in Barnsdall Art Park to Edgecliff Dr in Silver Lake. "Dyke Day L.A. is a day in the park for all self-identified dykes and allies, including gay families, transgender dykes, and dykes of all ages. The mission of Dyke Day L.A. is to create an inclusive space that brings together the past, present, and future of our east side Los Angeles dyke community," explains their Facebook contingency.

Before the marchers made their way down the route on Saturdaythey were treated to live music at Barnsdall. Although there was no food or drink being sold, celebrants were enjoying they brought themselves, and then took advantage of the $2 drink specials at local watering hole Akbar.

Thanks for the coverage, LAist! Dyke Day LA and the dyke march are currently two events organized by separate groups, but we are working together to bring a full day of free, all-ages, super-fun activities for dykes and friends during the Saturday of LA Pride. Interested folks should become our fan on FB, and check out more pictures from the weekend!
