One of LA's best ideas is about to get a little more pricier. Beginning August 1st, LAX FlyAway one-way tickets between Union Station/Van Nuys and LAX will raise one dollar to $7 to further close the gap between revenues and expenses. Westwood to LAX and back will remain at $5 each way.

"Despite a decline in air travel, the demand for LAX FlyAway bus service has increased in recent years. Bus service was increased to meet the demand resulting in higher operating costs," they said in a statement. "FlyAway buses carried more than 1.5 million passengers in 2008, an increase of 14 percent compared to 2007."

And it looks like the FlyAway may get an additional location in Orange County. A route between Irvine and LAX could be coming later this year.

Oh well, still cheaper than a taxi or one day of long-term parking.

I sure would not mind the extra dollar considering the great service it provides.

Service to Orange County is also a great idea. Traffic to OC on the 405 can’t be any worse than traffic on the 405 over the hill. However Flyaway People please consider service to the Long Beach Airport which is just as important as any service to OC. Maybe combine the routes.
