Simply Wrong Food: The KFC Mashed Potato Bowl

IMG_8585 (Small).JPG

Bowls are all the rage right now; it seems like every fast food joint has some kind of bowl. There are even weird-ass breakfast bowls. If we can't pop it, dip it or wrap it, goddammit, we're gonna put it in a bowl!

The KFC bowl almost sorta kinda works. The mashed potatoes and gravy are the standard, then the addition of corn is OK; a lot of people mix their corn into their mashed potatoes. Then little crispy fried nuggets are on top to make the whole thing supergreasy and leave you with that horrible fat hangover. Unfortunately they didn't have the Biscuit Bowl at my KFC, which uses a white gravy and crams a big, fluffy biscuit in.

Where KFC really goes wrong here is by topping the whole thing off with a three-cheese blend. Really? Cheese? Only French-Canadians have ever dared to mix gravy and cheese. Has our society really sunk that low? Is this the decline of Western civilization Penelope Spheeris has been warning us about?

That picture needs to be posted on ThisIsWhyYoureFat.com (real site).

I've seen a former coworker eat 2 of those in one sitting. Not pretty at all.

AND DON'T YOU DARE BADMOUTH DELICIOUS POUTINE!

Looks like an afternoon on the toilet to me.

Disgusting! It's no wonder Americans are the fattest of the fattest in the world.
No wonder there's no uprisings and revolutions against all the shit that's coming our way, EVERYONE is so FAT that they can barely even move..

i would recommend watching the you tube clip below about the KFC bowl. it's hysterical.

old news

THANK YOU! I was about to say the same thing. Old by about three years.

Umm, this isn't exactly filed under the breaking news category. I can complain about whatever I want. You know what I really hate? shoulder pads. And what's with all these Starbucks everywhere?

YES. Glad to see this in the comments. A sadness pile in a failure bowl.

In other news, when are they gonna yank Elise Thompson's passowrd so she can't post anymore? I'm just sayin...

What I find unbelievable is the fact that 15+ men, in a large board room with a big long table, being paid millions of dollars per person, came up with this. A bowl of shit.

hehe, I actually ate this a few times because when it was only $1.99 in the beginning of the year.

It is pretty good - but I was the only skinny person eating it.

The day I went and it was back up to $4.99 - I went to subway.

Ew, it looks congealed.

Yeah. As was mentioned, Patton Oswalt did a bit about these. Barf-o.

I would never eat it, but I would use this as a moisturizer.

I bet it comes out the same way it looks going in.

700 calories.

290 calories (32 grams) of fat.

2260 mg of sodium.

Also includes: Monosodium glutamate! Modified cellulose gum! Sodium aluminum phosphate! Maltodextrin! Corn syrup solids! Disodium inosinate! Disodium guanylate! Silicon dioxide! Calcium stearoyl-2-lactylate! Sorbic acid! Sodium caseinate! Sodium bisulfite! Sodium pyrophosphate! Sodium citrate!

And, last but not least, artificial color AND artificial flavor!

Man, that's a complete meal.

I have to admit I had several since KFC put them out. It tastes sooooo good but yet sooooo bad for me.

I'm actually pretty slim. It's all about moderation. Everyone should be able to indulge when it comes to food. Just be portion/calorie responsible that's all. Just like alcohol. My thoughts anyways.

Probably would work better as spackle than food.

I have had these a few times in the past too, but with barbecue sauce instead of gravy.

What can I say, sometimes you just want to host a huge white trash party in your mouth.

KFC is one of the few chains I have never tried... I don't know... cheese over fried chicken? You know what happens to the cheese when mixed with oil...
