Photos: The Dog that Survived the Mountain Lion Attack

Last month, a story floated around about a dog named Hoagie that saved his owners from a mountain lion in the Cleveland National Forest in Orange County. But soon after, state officials found that the mountain probably lion did not initiate the attack.

That's one of the better outcomes because if the mountain lion actually attacked, which would be out of character for them, the state then would have had to hunt and kill the lion. And luckily, Hoagie was not too hurt, nor were his owners, who we saw this past weekend at the Arcadia Dog show. Things look good and the two are still best friends. Stay safe out there and remember, if you're going off-leash in areas where mountain lions live, your dogs natural instincts could kick in at any moment.

Hoagie, you sick sonofabitch. Stop chasin' the ladies.

"...if you're going off-leash in areas where mountain lions live..."

Even better: don't go off-leash.

Ummmm, I feel sorry for the mountain lion. RUDE.

I personally was bitten by a dog ON a leash yesterday. So much for that. Though I doubt a mountain lion altercation would result if the dog was on the leash...
