Beatles Rock Band at E3: More Than Your Average LA Star Sighting
So far E3, which is happening this week in town, has been filled with celebrities who love video games. At the EA press conference Pete Sampras played Grand Slam Tennis. At Ubisoft James Cameron described Avatar in detail and Pele shared his love for football and Academy of Champions. Joel McHale hosted the Ubisoft press conference revealing several times which games he was most looking forward to playing (Splinter Cell Conviction) and saluting the 'geeks' at The Los Angeles Theater.
By far the biggest splash took place at the Microsoft event. After a long description of Beatles Rock Band was followed by a full song played by the house band and the trailer showing several songs that will be included in the game (Day Tripper, Octopus's Garden, Here Comes the Sun). Then on stage out walked Dhani Harrison, Olivia Harrison, Yoko Ono, Ringo Starr, and Paul McCartney.
"Who would have thought we'd end up as androids?" McCartney joked. Ringo likes the graphics.
Today the Nintendo media briefing focused on all things Mario. So we'll say that Mario was their celebrity appearance. We already met the big Nintendo super star at a Children's Hospital event. LAist will be at E3 this week checking out all the gaming news and festivities.
