Melissa Joan Hart's Childhood Dream Comes True, Her Sweets Shop Opens

Although her weight gain and amazing loss has been grabbing tabloid headlines as of late, the real news about Melissa Joan Hart is her new sweets shop that just celebrated its grand opening on Saturday in Sherman Oaks. Meet Sweetharts, a whimsically decorated frozen yogurt, gelato, cake, cupcake, hard and soft candy store.

The shop has been her lifelong dream and after a successful young career in television (Clarissa Explains it All and Sabrina the Teenage Witch), she gave birth to her two children and went in on the shop with her mother and three other partners, including Matt Epstein, owner of Vitello's and Vitello's Express.

Recently, the Sherman Oaks restaurant row has exploded with desserts all around. Adding to the mix with Nata's Bakery--a weekly haunt for Nicole Kidman--and Nola Ice, a New Orleans snoball shop that just combined forces with one of the best cupcake makers in town, Menchie's Frozen Yogurt made a genius move and just opened next to the old Brady Bunch elementary school on Dixie Canyon.

Back to Sweetharts, how will Hart keep the weight off while hanging around all these calories, everyone's asking? "Actually, I don't like sweets unless I'm pregnant," she told People Magazine last week. "It's a very lucky thing! The only thing I'll eat [at the store] is the non-fat frozen yogurt."
