Weekend Movie Guide: Up, Up and away!

I'm not sure how much more I can write about Up that I didn't relate in my review from yesterday. Simply put -- go see it! Unless you're a misguided fool like Armond White, you'll love it. Nice to see Sam Raimi taking a dip back into the horror pool with Drag Me to Hell (although the PG-13 rating is chickenshit). I'll never understand why Alison Lohman isn't a bigger star. Watch her in Where the Truth Lies and tell me she isn't fantastic.

Departures regards an unemployed cellist who takes a new job preparing the dead for burial. That should tell you enough to know whether this is one you want to catch. For me, it says, "Hell, yes." Just don't be discouraged by the subtitles! It's a shame that What Goes Up is so awful since it stars one of my absolute favorites, Olivia Thirlby. Not surprisingly, Hillary Duff's string of never appearing in a good film continues!
