Video: What the Heck Does a Flying Fish's Glide Look Like?

Here's a 45-second video of a flying fish gliding across the water off the coast of Japan. It's no quarter-mile, as debated in the comments section of an LAist post about this weekend's Flying Fish Festival, but it's still pretty cool.

What the!?!?! That's just crazy!

Pretty sweet. Even sweeter on a sashimi plate later that night!

Very cool! That swish action of the tail fin into the water to keep aloft is phenomenal!

Yeah it looks like just as he was about to hit the drink, he made a swimming motion with the tail and body that made the wings flap. Evolution of fish to bird on display.
