Recession Obsession: Greatest Food Hits

View LAist Recession Obsession: Greatest Food Hits in a larger map

The Official Recession has blanketed us for nearly eighteen official months. For the last seven of those shallow-pocketed months, LAist has brought you the weekly Recession Obsession series. We've looked at a some fun things to do, but the focus has been on eating.

Is there a better place than Los Angeles to eat a wide variety of amazing food that happens to be wallet-friendly? Probably not. Our sprawling urbanopolis' diversity is to thank for that. We're both lucky and well fed. This stuff isn't simply "cheap eats" either. These are places we went to when times were good too. It just so happens the price is even more right today.

Here is a complete listing, and map (but you knew that,) of all of LAist's Recession Obsessions for your stomach.

People have always treated me like I'm crazy for thinking this. LA is budget friendly if you don't believe the hype. While NYC can brag about their variety all they want, there are very few ways to experience it all without some major $$$.

Meh, anyone who's not from LA or new to LA or has only limited themselves to their one section of LA is talking out of their ass when they say that LA sucks and has no culture. ;-) Don't listen to them.

It's a tie for me! Huarache Azteca and Tacos Por Favor...mmmm....too bad my new super-diet rules out both of those for a while. :(
