Yesterday's Earthquake Prompted Apartment Dwellers to Evacuate

Oh, the terrible Newport-Inglewood, you've yet to forsake us. Yesterday's mild 4.1 earthquake caused 18 people to be displaced at the Locust Avenue apartments in Long Beach.

"Firemen found a 10-foot by 70-foot section of wall on the second floor peeling away at the roof line," reported the Long Beach Press Telegram. "Residents said the wall began cracking during an earthquake that occurred earlier in the afternoon. The quake, a magnitude 4.1, came in the wake of a 4.7 shaker Sunday."

As always, these earthquakes are only a reminder for us to get prepared. Store away that water, take a CERT class and be cognizant of your surroundings.
