LAUSD teachers planned a walk out today over budget cuts forcing massive teacher layoffs, then a judge said no, the teachers okay, we won't walk out, we'll protest before school begins and now some teachers haven't stopped protesting.

This planned civil disobedience includes 700 teachers calling in sick and small protests around the city. Both the United Teachers of Los Angeles union and Cuts Hurts Kids are live tweeting as events unfold.

Apparently, there is a heavy police presence right now.

Oh man, this ish is getting real in a hurry. I was honestly thinking that the teachers would report to work as planned, despite their needs. It looks like this is going to get a lot uglier before it gets any better. Man.

Shouldn't they all be walking out regardless of what some judge says? The point of striking is to make an impact, and that's what a teacher walk out would do for this issue.

They were going to strip people's credentials. That means not being able to teach at any public school in California. Not many people can afford to become jobless and unhirable.
