After Pultizer Prize winning food writer Jonathan Gold caused a flame war between the two cities this week, LA Weekly has now highlighted noteworthy comments made on LAist and SFist. Among those noted is Orange County native and SFist Editor Brock Keeling sneaking over to LAist and writing "pst, your burritos are secretly much, much better."
bennyinsf says: "I know a lot of people in NorCal and especially here in SF who would love for California to be divided into two states. If it were already the case, we'd have legalized same-sex marriage in NorCal while SoCal would have an embalmed Reagan [for] governor."
photola writes: "hey we are in the same state, let's not fight each other. instead we should be fighting new yorkers. now they have such shitty food they are known for their hot dog stands. taco trucks are much better (& cheaper)."
And we would like to point out tyson's observation: "LA food is tacos, not burritos. That said, SF can't make tacos for shit." That prompts johnny0 to reply: "Now if someone in California could make a decent slice of pizza..."

Ugh. There are plenty of fine slices in LA, but I'll admit it's a bit more chic than you'll find in NYC. I've had plenty of good slices in both cities. People who say we can't make it right out here because the water's different or the heat in the ovens or some shit, probably couldn't tell a Pink's dog from a Nathan's.
I would kill for Nathan's right now. And those fries in the cup with the little fork. Drool...
I thoroughly enjoy Andre's Pizza on Hollywood Blvd, across from the Knitting Factory.
And I am still waiting to try Purgatory Pizza, but I've heard amazing things!
maybe they were talking about NY slice? b/c there aren't many good spots in LA...maybe two out of the hundreds...
This midwestern transplant finds that Masa of Echo Park makes a deep dish pizza as close as one can find in Los Angeles to the real thing.
As for pizza I can say there is nothing here like what I grew up on in NY. The closest here may be Mulburry. I've never been to Chicago but Masa's deep dish is awesome. Best gourmet is Mozza hands down. When I go back to NY I always eat Pizza, bagels, deli & Chinese. Ooo, I can bring it all back around now: when I ws a kid in NY egg rolls were like burritos (out here egg rolls are the same as spring rolls)!
Can you tell i haven't eaten lunch yet?? LOL.
Have you ever eaten at Pinch & S'mac in the Upper West Side?
Tomato Pie makes fine pizza, and that's coming from a NY transplant. But I want to make one more note about burritos: anyone I've ever met (from No and So Cal and anywhere else) who has had a burrito from Patty's in Pomona will swear it's better than any other. Can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet.
Domino's and Pizza Hut are good enough.
this place is a secret so keep it to yourselves:
The Good Pizza: http://www.thegoodpizza.com/
slices around $3, authentic italian style, my favorite is their bbq chicken & french fry pizza
Vito's in West Hollywood has the closest I've had to a NY slice in L.A. They've got the crust perfect.
