A Peek Inside CAA's Private Art Collection

Office art is often bland, mass produced and uninspired, but that's not the case at the offices of the Creative Artists Agency in Century City. With over 400 works, their collection, which is focused on art by locals who live and create in Los Angeles, is worthy of being a contemporary museum on its own. From established artists to the young and upcoming, the CAA has been collecting these works to support arts education. "LA is great in a sense that we've got all these great art schools concentrated here," explained Thao Nguyen, who oversees the collection. "We want to support LA artists in terms of being educated here and producing art here."

Furthuring that mission, a small exclusive group from Culver City's LAXART toured the space last night. It was all part of the non profit gallery's ReGroup membership level, which is for young collectors, patrons and philanthropists of the contemporary art scene in LA. Once a month, the intimate sized group is brought to an emerging artist's studio or a private collection as a perk. Yesterday's event brought the group to CAA for a private tour leaving many amazed, including us, at what our fellow local artists are creating. The above photos is just a small sampling of the collection.

Are or will these collections be open for public viewing?

Their website is very vague.

As far as I know, it is not. But I will double check.

Ha, almost took a job sitting at one of those desks (pic #5). No amount of private art makes me regret my decision.

Very dope, in high school I went to the old CAA office and never even thought about them as having a art collection. To be honest the new building they use now is a work of art in of itself.
