Use Soap Made from Mozza's Recycled Kitchen Grease

A bottle of Further Soap ready for action.

LAist has eaten bacon pizza at Mozza, but we turn our attention to the soap in the bathroom. Customers can now wash their hands with soap made from the recycled cooking grease in the Mozza kitchens.

Megan and Marshall Dostal of Further Soap have taken the credo "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" very seriously--their desire to live a sustainable lifestyle led them to create this local hand soap. The couple drives diesel cars run on their homemade biofuel, also derived from recycling cooking grease. Glycerin distilled from the grease is turned into soap.

Recently the Dostals announced that they would use the cooking grease from Mozza Pizzeria and Osteria for their fuel and soap. They now pick up all of Mario Batali, Nancy Silverston, and Joe Bastianich's waste grease from both restaurants. The soap is put out for customers at Mozza, thus creating a sustainable circle. Your hands will smell like the original Further Soap fragrance of bergamont, olive, and exotic grasses.

I wonder if Further Soap gets it's "exotic grassy smell" from the Mozarella di Bufala.

Do I have to call a month in advance to reserve a time to use this soap?
