Everyone's jaw is dropping here in Los Angeles (holy shit!) while Cubs fans are screaming "suck it, Dodgers!" Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez has tested positive for performance-enhancing drug and will be suspended for 50 games, according to the Los Angeles Times. His first game back will be July 3rd--in the meantime, outfielder Xavier Paul will apparently be promoted to Manny's position. The official announcement by Major League Baseball is expected later today.

My heart hurts.
As a die-hard Cubs fan and full-time Dodgers fan (my secondary) I feel crushed and almost disillusioned with sports once and for all. But all that money, all those expectations from the league and fans... you've gotta expect it. Hell, I'll try some of whatever he's having.
I wonder what drug it was. It doesn't necessarily have to be juice. But even if it was juice it's still a dope-heavy sport. July 3 = Manny's Back.
Honestly, not surprising at all. I nearly made a comment about it at the game last Thursday, but figured it wouldn't be a good idea. But damn would I have liked to throw that in my friends' faces, haha.
Scott Boras is saying that it was from medication a doctor prescribed to him. MLB officially announced the suspension. I'll do a round up later in the morning including some nice excerpts from Jose Canseco.

Why now though? Right on the cusp of a major milestone they drop this bombshell. The irony is that everyone is fucking doing it. His fault is that he is a big star. Wait until they get a hold of David Ortiz and Pujols.
They're doing it now because MLB doesn't have the huevos do suspend a Big Gun on closer to the Playoffs. Manny will come back and have FOUR MONTHS of baseball left.
Its an unpaid suspension. Wonder what the Dodgers are going to do with the $7.7 mil they no longer have to pay him.
Not that I'm the biggest Manny fan around, but when did it become guilty until proven innocent. It's not as if Manny suddenly became a better hitter over the winter break. Maybe I'm being naive, but shouldn't we at least wait to get more details before we all commence the witch hunt?
So much for my first ever Dodgers game on Sunday.
