Video Of The Day: What's In Kentucky Grilled Chicken?

SoCal Diet/Lifestyle Coach/Trainer Sean Croxton has a bone to pick with KFC. In this video he analyzes the ingredients in their new Kentucky Grilled Chicken and isn't happy with the findings. Croxton's also none too pleased with the typically health-forward Oprah Winfrey, who is pushing this bird. One might assume that grilled chicken is a lesser evil than fried. Perhaps, but KFC's new KGC is chocked full of trans fats and MSG. LAist wonders, is KGC finger licking good? [Full ingredient list on the KFC website PDF.]

Oprah was paid to shill for a product? I am SHOCKED.

Well get your two free pieces REGARDLESS of what Oprah says. Judge how bad they are for yourself. If it's any indication that it's coming from KFC, it'll probably be pretty bad regardless.

He's stating the truth about KFC and Oprah. But did he really need to make a comment about Oprah's own weight? I felt like that comment alone made him sound douch bag like.

I agree with 100% of what he is saying about that "food" but the personal vendetta on Oprah is a little strange.

Great post Caleb!
I agree with Sean 100%
Why is it wrong for Sean to mention that Oprah is fat and doesn't know how to diet?
Is Oprah skinny now?

Hmm, well the KFC nutrition info shows that the grilled chicken is trans fat free (like their fried stuff) and is pretty low in everything else. MSG makes sense, but they don't make any claim to not use MSG. I didn't have 9 minutes to listen to this guy's sophomoric ranting about "the corporate machine," but KFC has a massive team of lawyers backing up that "0g trans fat" claim, so I highly doubt his facts are accurate.

I hate when shit like this makes me stand up for corporations, but if you're going to blow a whistle, do it right for chrissakes.

"I didn't have 9 minutes to listen to this guy's sophomoric ranting about "the corporate machine"

But you had time to post about something you didn't listen too?
Hmm...

I won't debate the trans fat thing, but MSG ISN'T BAD FOR YOU.

There is no real scientific evidence that it is (way to find the one rogue neuro"scientist" who says it is). "Chinese restaurant syndrome" has been disavowed by all scientists. Natural foods like peanuts and tomatoes are full of MSG. Asians have been using MSG for years, and they tend to live much healthier lives than us. I know Mr. Croxton has lots of "degrees" and "certifications", but nutrition 'science' is still considered a bunch of crap by most scientists. Seriously, stop spreading this crap.

It must be the ol' "Ancient Chinese Secret"
If you eat ANYTHING at any Asian style restaurant ANYWHERE on this planet ( Even if they tell you "we didn't "add" MSG" it's IN THERE! If you went back to stock room of any of these restaurants you would find MSG laden pre made ingredients such as "condiments used in every single dish they make.
What do you think is in those frozen "grilled" chicken at the local grocery store?
Preservatives, pick your dye #, on and on..
Hmm..Fried vs "Grilled" on the menu at KFC?? Which is "better" for me???

I am shocked that KFC carried something unhealthy! Who knew factory farmed birds could possibly be bad for you?

Oprah did a vegan "cleanse" for a month a year or two ago. She probably knows more about nutrition than most. At the very least, she can pay for good meals. She just happens to have a heavy body type.

Did KFC run out of chickens?
