The largest regional community service event in America is happening here in LA this weekend, and there's plenty of ways you can sign up to pitch in and help make your community a better place for everyone. Big Sunday is actually a weekend-long annual event that brings together people to work on projects at schools, community centers, parks, and many more locations. The Big Sunday website explains:
There are countless opportunities for every passion, talent, skill and age. Projects are scheduled throughout the weekend, and they last anywhere from one hour to two full days. Some are big, some are small, some are easy and some are more involved. All are rewarding.

Okay, so bottom line time: How can you help? There are a few ways. First, you can sign up (either individually or with a group) to work on a project. There are several to choose from, and you can pick based on location, kind of service (tree planting, street cleanup, working with kids, building gardens, etc), and there are even some aimed at bringing singles together. You can also sign up to host a lemonade stand to raise funds for children's charities, or donate goods at a Big Sunday Drop-Off Center (click here to learn where and when you can drop items off.)

Giving time and energy to your community is a fun and easy way to help others--especially when we're in a time when we might not have cash to spare but we've got our hands and hearts. Let's make it a really Big Sunday, Los Angeles!
