Vin Scully To Be Inducted Into National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame

Beloved Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully will be inducted into the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in a ceremony in Las Vegas tomorrow. The National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame honors one radio and one television broadcaster every year.

Scully was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982, awarded a Life Achievement Emmy award in 1995, named the "Sportscaster of the 20th Century" in 2000 and was listed as the #1 sports broadcaster of all time by the American Sportscasters Association in 2009.

Scully's streak of 60 consecutive years calling Dodgers games on radio and television is unprecedented in all of sports. Scully is the only sportscaster the Los Angeles Dodgers have ever had, having relocated West with the team from Brooklyn in 1958. This year, Vin Scully threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Dodgers' opening Day.

If you have never heard the voice of Vin Scully, be a part of broadcasting history and turn on KCAL-9 or tune your radio to a Dodgers radio station during the next Dodgers game.

This is just happening now? What exactly were they waiting for?

I've been so lucky and privileged to listen to and watch Vin Scully my whole life. It's shocking that they waited so long for this! Congratulations, Vin!

Rather than inducting Vin Scully, the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame should be renamed in his honor.

Perhaps Vin is a victim of his own longevity? Harry Caray was inducted in his 50th year of broadcasting. Jack Buck was inducted posthumously.

Also, this honor is shared with broadcasters in fields other than sports.

Im amazed that this is barely happening. Seriously... Congrats to "Uncle Vinny"!

Some of the past radio honorees include Rick Dees, Rush Limbaugh and Don Imus.

I wonder if it's too late for Vin to turn it down ;)
