Evans wants to build a 10,000-square-foot estate in Malibu proper he's calling "Leaves in the Wind," as well as four other luxurious residences that are situated on land part of unicorporated LA County. Locals aren't upset about Evans setting up roots in Malibu, or even the home itself, but rather the potentially devastating impact construction the home could have on the land. Large trucks on the only road leading in and out of Serra Retreat, where Evans plans to build, could increase likelihood of accidents, and the environmental impact on the land has some baffled when taking The Edge's stance as an environmentalist into consideration.
Evans' spokespeople, however, hope to quiet the Malibu storm: "The Edge's mission was to create a sense of place that respects the environment with good planning practice and outstanding architecture that will stand the test of time."
