A portion of Sunset Boulevard will be closed tonight for street resurfacing, a first in 30 years for this stretch of street. The full closure will be from 8 p.m. tonight to 10 a.m. Saturday morning between Highland and La Brea avenues.

“I’m proud that we’re finally re-paving this stretch of Sunset Boulevard, but it may inconvenience some people,” said Councilmember Tom LaBonge at press conference today. “City crews will work through the night to finish the job as quickly as possible and re-open the boulevard on Saturday morning.”

Additionally, Hollywood Blvd. will be closed from Highland to La Brea for the filming of the movie "Zombieland." However, this closure begins at 3 a.m. and continues to 10 a.m.

And if you thought that was it, you're wrong. Once "Zombieland" finishes, eastbound lanes on Hollywood Blvd. between Highland and Orange will remain closed until 6 p.m. for the premiere of "Earth."

Don't forget the closures on Hollywood Blvd next week for an "up and coming" band from the UK. :D
