I'm not the first person to note the real benefit of Twitter has to do with who you follow and not who is following you. Kutcher and Ellen and their ilk are just interested in their egos. That Kutcher will use a "win" to buy 10,000 bed nets comes of a little sick to me, since he presumably won't buy them if he loses. It's as if he's saying "Make me popular, or kids will die."
the most interesting part of it is that the @cnnbrk twitter account that ashton is battling is not run by or affiliated with CNN. It's just some dude up in SF.
In his defense, Kutcher has been a big supporter of Malaria No More and promoter of World Malaria Day (4/25) long before this recent hullabaloo.
The AP story sez CNN recently acquired @cnnbrk from James Cox. And yea, I'm sure he's sincere in the bed net thing, but using that as a "prize" just smacks of exploiting a good cause just to feed his ego, which is all having the most followers does.

Oh good, refreshing the page duplicated my message TWICE!
Anyway there is hope, for now there is @unfollowashton
db, CNN bought the account yesterday: http://digg.com/d1osdH
Now all that remains is a case of ding-dong-dutch
to Mister Turner and to tell Larry King that "I told you such"
i guess the moral of the story is I'd get more views
writing about Ashton Kutcher rather than about news
