Obama's Choice Dog Breed is the 106th Most Popular in LA

Of the 184 dog breeds registered with LA County by pet owners, the Obama family choice breed one of the less popluar around town and likely across the nation. But that's probably going to change.

Today, Bo the Portuguese water dog will officially be introduced to his new home, the White House. The 6-month-old puppy was given up by his original owners and has had quite a journey in his short life.

"The White House will be the puppy's fourth home in his six months of life," found the Associated Press. "He was born in Texas, then moved to his first owner's home in Washington, D.C., then spent nearly a month with Sen. Edward Kennedy's dog trainer in Virginia, and now is moving to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue."

Portuguese water dogs are the 106th most popular dog breed in LA County with only 127 of them registered. Compare that with chihuahuas, labrador retrievers and German shepherds, breeds each with the more than 50,000 registrations. But with the Obama shedding some light on the their choice breed, reports of its popularity are already hitting the news.
