A jury today found music producer Phil Spector guilty of second-degree murder. He stood accused for the death of Lana Clarkson, 40, who was found shot to death in his home in Alhambra in 2003. His first trial in 2007 ended in jury deadlock. A sentencing hearing, which could lead to at least 18 years in jail, has been set for May 29th

The 69-year-old Spector has been awarded two Grammy Awards and in 1989, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. "In the 1960s, he became famous as the man behind the 'Wall of Sound,' an instrumentally dense swirl of melody and percussion underlying such tunes as the Ronettes' 'Be My Baby,' the Righteous Brothers' 'You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling' and Ike and Tina Turner's 'River Deep, Mountain High,'" wrote CNN of his biography. "He later produced the Beatles' "Let It Be" album, John Lennon's "Imagine" and the Ramones' 'End of the Century.'"

Great update, Zach! The LAT has a headline but no story yet!

I've been found guilty...of loving his use of strings.

A misgynistic asshole who gets drunk and plays with his guns. Exactly what he deserves. And I hope Clarkson's mother gets what ever money the lawyers didn't get.

Sigh. Well I know he did it and he needs to go to jail like any other person, but part of me feels sad because I do so love his work and I wish he could have lived up to it's splendour in the way he lived his life instead of being such a messed-up hopeless case. Sad all around.

I might have felt sorry for him if he had owned up to his mistake and not tried to buy his way out of it. As it stands, I feel justice was served, and I feel a little bit better about our criminal justice system.

This still doesn't make up for OJ.

Isn't OJ in jail? Do you really think Simpson would be serving 33 years in prison for robbery if not for the civil suit that found him guilty for the wrongful death of Nicole?

Good point. It was justice delayed, but still justice.

And you're right. He couldn't get his memorobilia back in a legal manner or the Goldmans would have ended up with it.

He should serve life in prison just for his haircut

Actually Purp, I think that's a rug. That or his hair hasn't changed an iota since his mug shot.

So will he have time to record a version of Paul Hardcastle's "Nineteen" before he goes in, or will he stick to his last hit?
