Just hours after playing a game last night, Nick Adenhart and two others died when a mini van ran a red light in Fullerton shortly after midnight. Another person from the vehicle remains in the hospital. The driver of the mini van fled the scene, but was caught and arrested a mile away by police. A passenger in that vehicle was also taken to the hospital.

At last night's game, Adenhart pitched six scoreless innings getting five strikeouts on seven hits. Oakland eventually won, though, 6-4.

Police say the intersection at Orangethorpe Avenue and Lemon Street will likely remain closed until noon.

Incredibly tragic. A major league starter at age 22. We need to increase awareness about red light safety. Cameras aren't a cure all.

Is it just me or has there been a lot of hit and run fatalities lately?

heard this was a DUI incident with the other driver of the van being the suspect
