Despite being up a man for the vast majority of the game, the Galaxy were unable to convert on any of their scoring opportunities in their U.S. Open Cup play-in game against the Colorado Rapids last night at the Home Depot Center.

The Rapids withstood a barrage of shots and scoring opportunities from the L.A. side to keep the score level at zero past regulation and extra time. Colorado 'keeper Preston Burpo turned hero during the penalty kick phase, making 2 saves and securing a 4 - 2 victory for the visitors. This is the third consecutive loss on penalty decisions for the blue-and-gold and eliminates the Galaxy from the U.S. Open Cup tournament.
