Microquakes Roll Through Echo Park, Silver Lake

Small Earthquakes Echo Park Silver Lake No that wasn't the neighbors getting it on again... A couple microquakes -- small earthquakes measuring 2.0 and 2.5 on the Richter scale -- rumbled through Silver Lake (at 7:47) and Echo Park (at 10:07) tonight. Didya feel it? Such microquakes are common along fault lines but we're reminded again that earthquakes will rock across the LAist vicinity (remember the Marina boomer earlier this year)?

I felt the 10:07 one in Silver Lake. Very minor - just one little jolt. My friend who was on the couch next to me didn't feel it and didn't believe me.
We looked up at the ceiling fan (which was off) and the dangling chain wasn't moving at all... that's how slight it was. Just nice to see that I was right!

I felt/heard something at 7:47 over near sunset/labrea. I wonder if that had anything to do with it. The cats were freaked out, but I thought it had to do with the rain. I was listening to my ipod and figured some thunder was coming in.
