Time Warner Cable Customers Report Audio Drops in TV Service

twc-audio.jpg For the past few months, there's been a constant drone of Time Warner complaints that come our way. "Time-Warner has hit an all-time low. Despite the fact that both LAist and The Los Angeles Times has reported Bot attacks on the provider they absolutely refuse to 'fess-up' to the issue and credit me with a refund," a reader left in our anonymous tip box. Another tipster followed up with a complaint we experience daily at home. "Paying extra for Digital service and using their DVR box does nothing to improve things; DVR'd shows frequently have blips and sound drops. How is this company allowed to continue providing such sh*tty service to the 2nd largest media market in the country?!" It's true, at least for us at home where they happen consistently about every 15 minutes. Who else experiences this?

Time Warner is absolutely evil. Its appalling how bad their customer service is and how little they care.

Yes. The audio drops and the picture will go fuzzy or black and white. I have digital cable and dvr and I want to throw the crap out the window

Switch to DirecTV already.

I too have Time Warner as a student and it I just LOVE when the live feed lags and the sounds goes out when I'm watching a sports game. Canceling my service in May.

Not just Time/Warner. Charter's been having the same problem for a while.

Can't argue. We frequently get screen freezes, pixels, black frames and sound problems, and we have to frequently reset the crappy two-channel DVR. And don't get me started on the frequent outages.

If anyone wants to know why I don't get internet service from Time Warner, see above.

Wait- people still have cable TV?!?

Yes, audio drops, pixilation and my all time fave, when the remote won't respond for like 30 mins and then suddenly does everything at once, usually spoiling the end of a crappy reality show for me. If only my landlord allowed dishes on this building...

That's why I love OTA HDTV :) It's free and doesn't drop/audio loss - except when a helicopter flies over my apt, then I get a drop/pause for a second.

Yep, PLUS, our DVR will frequently skip straight to the end of a recording when we're fast forwarding. Doesn't matter how fast or where we are in the recording - it just assumes we're finished and asks whether or not to delete. It's balls.

This happens to me too! My boyfriend wanted to return the DVR to Time Warner and get another one because he thought it was just the unit (our last one didn't do it). It's so annoying to have to go back and fast forward through the ENTIRE show again to get to the spot we were in.

We also get blips and fuzzy picture a lot. I can't wait to get FIOS or something that will bundle my internet and TV and which is not named Time Warner.

This is why we switched to TiVo - so what if we didn't get HBO and Showtime On Demand anymore, at least we didn't have to deal with having to rewind back through the last six minutes of the program when the recording skipped!

I just moved and have now gone through two boxes that won't respond to any remote/front of unit input whatsoever once it's been on for five minutes - so to change the channel, I have to unplug and then replug the box. Wish I could get Verizon FiOS, I would switch so fast...

AND SYNC PROBLEMS! My shit is always a half second out of sync! Is it only HD Cable?

Sync problems, frozen green screens, frames dropping, audio dropping, and overall uselessness of the DVR/digicable box is what drove me to cancel my Time Warner TV service last month. Now I use OTA HDTV and an old (2004) laptop running Ubuntu hooked up to the TV for Hulu/Youtube/Etc. I get all the same shows with less hassle and it only cost me $30 for the antenna and $50 for a decent compact wireless keyboard and mouse. I was paying over $60/mo for the lousy HDDVR service and digicable on only one TV.

OTA (over-the-air using an antenna rather than cable or satellite) HDTV.

I'm so glad I was able to switch to FiOS and kick TWC to the curb. After almost 2 months on FiOS we have had no problems with their TV or Internet service. Zero.

Of course TWC still managed to steal money from me (they still had my account on autopay even after I canceled the account) and it took numerous phone calls and the threat of legal action to finally get them to refund my money.

The number if incidents where former providers have ripped off former customers via credit card charges are legend. This is why I NEVER pay any provider of any service with autopay.

As to the intransigence of the Time Warner phone elfs, I don't blame them for their lack of knowledge, inability to refund sums, etc. The company they work for insists on these conditions and the elfs are just being "good" employees. The company they work for though sucks big time.

Will be cancelling service in a month or two, I really dislike it. Plus I only need Hulu nowadays

TW sucks, period!!!! I hate saying this but I miss Adelphia.

Just to add my voice here...yep, I get dropouts on analog cable all the time. Totally black screen cut outs 2-3 seconds and then things come back.

I have had many thoughts of canceling. Waiting for decent HighSpeed Internet alternative to come into my neighborhood, then I will definitely be looking.

D

I had the same problems with Charter. Canceled them a year ago and went with Direct TV, never had a problem since. I have cable for my internet and have no problems but as for TV cable SUCKS.

Anyone with a Twitter account and interested in "unloading" on a TWC representative might want to know about;

Let's see how long that account stays active.
