Happy Hour Deals at Wokcano

golden-triangle-wokcano.jpg Okay, so it's not Nobu -- but who has the bank account to handle $200 sushi fests nowadays? Wokcano offers good happy hour prices in convenient locations for your after-work bitch fests -- the menu will make even the sushi-shy happy. And hey, if you don't have a job, then you can get to happy hour that much earlier! From 4-7pm, sneak in a cocktail or two and some creative rolls like The Black Pearl and the Late Night Party Roll (crabmeat, avocado, scallops, and lobster). Yeah, maybe you sushi purists should show yourselves the door, but who's going to argue with lychee martinis and Asian bloody Marys? Not this girl.

Appetizers and sushi range from $3-$6.50, and portions aren't small, so even a few plates will probably satisfy for dinner. Stick with favorites like calamari, the "Golden Triangle" roll (asparagus, avocado, and tuna), and spicy garlic shrimp. It's a Sunday through Friday deal, when you can snag wines for $4 per glass and martinis for about $6. Half off all beer and well drinks means that the real bargain hunter can get a nice buzz on for under $10, easily. There's also a new location opening up in Long Beach, so those of you down south can take part as well. LAist checked out Wokcano's grand opening in Santa Monica last year.

Thanks Carrie. I've been afraid to try the place because it looks kinda pricey from the outside.

BTW, the Bottega Louie at 7th and Grand we've been waiting for for so long is scheduled to open up Monday in downtown L.A. They've been taste bud teasing us all week long by having the wait staff, bar staff, and bakery staff, running to and fro, with a sign on the window saying; "Training in Progress, Opening Soon".

Should be interesting.

Koji's at Hollywood and Highland has cheap rolls ($3-5) $2.00 beers and $3.00 sake shots for happy hour. Gotta consider your options in this economy.

There's a place down the street (near Hollywood and Las Palmas) with $5 rolls that are way bigger and better than Kojis.

I was taken to the Wokcano in Burbank for a business lunch and felt bad that I had to leave half of the sushi I ordered uneaten because, well, it was inedible. It tasted so off I just couldn't keep putting it in my body. The fried noodles I got were all oil no flavor. And I'm not someone who has to have top shelf sushi. Kabuki? Sure- I can dig that, but there's no way I could go back to this place.

Kabuki has a great happy hour deal: rolls and hot food, $2.95-$4.95. I went a couple of times with friends and each got full for $10 each. Can't complain for that price.
