Pasadena Police Release Report on Death of Leroy Jones

Pasadena police have released the "blue book" report on the controversial officer involved shooting of parolee Leroy Jones earlier this year. Jones was killed in the back of his car with 11 bullets, seven of them in his back after two officers pulled him over and a struggle with a gun ensued, according to the Pasadena Star News. The report clears the officers saying the shooting was warranted. But Jones' family and civil rights leaders are disappointed in the report, citing the police still haven't released the video of the incident caught on the patrol car's dashboard camera and the police haven't addressed the contradicting statements made by the department after the incident. But taking it a step further, Pasadena's chief of police said that "in view of the concerns expressed by some in our community regarding the need for an independent review of this matter and in the interest of continuing to demonstrate full transparency, I have asked the Los Angeles County Office of Independent Review to take this matter under consideration."
