- LA landmarks will be joining in on the fun of "Voting for Earth" by switching off their lights. City Hall, the El Capitan theater and other spots will be set to turn off their lights at 8:30pm tomorrow.
- If you are a habitual credit card user, it might alarm you to hear that credit card companies are snatching back those "Rewards Points".
- For all the Federal money pouring into California and LA, its still not enough to stop those dreaded tax hikes and hated spending cuts.
- Ahhh yes... it's all about love and trust right? Wrong. The two people that planted a shotgun and drugs in the car of an innocent man have been found guilty. Apparently, when they found out that he was arrested they texted, "WE FUCKIN GOT HIM!" Ooops...
- Owners of a Miami business pleaded guilty to laundering campaign donations to Mayor Tony V's 2005 campaign. Villaraigosa's campaign reported the suspected funds after some employees of the defendants delivered $45,000. Apparently they wanted airport contracts in exchange for their contributions.
- The state Consumer Affairs chief resigned when she was confronted with an audit that found a lot of "questionable" expenses that she rang up. Among the things that she put on the taxpayer's tab; transportation to attend a Justin Timberlake concert with her daughter. Ugh...
- Some melodic merry-making with bicycles perhaps? No... LA.StreetsBlog has serious beef with the choice for number one video featuring a bicycle.
- A South Korean woman was charged for violating federal animal protection laws by importing bear bile... Yes you read that right BEAR BILE. Apparently, its worth tens of thousands of dollars when sold here in LA. Its used in traditional Chinese medicine as an aphrodisiac and a cure-all.
- Finally... A hiker stumbled across an illegal pot farm in Schabarum Regional Park. After realizing where he was, he (carefully) turned around and alerted the police. Around 500 plants and three rifles were recovered.
