Desperately Seeking Thin Mints

Photo by Elise Thompson for LAist. Yes, you can buy Thin Mints by the case. Don't judge me.

It used to be impossible to diet during Girl Scout Cookie season. They were everywhere. Then slowly the munchkins stopped going door to door, and the cookie stands at shopping centers have limited hours. Nowadays unless you have a coworker taping an order form up in the lunchroom, hunting Girl Scouts can be a major undertaking. Especially for us night owls.

Luckily the Girl Scouts know you're jonesing. Sure, you can stop anytime you want. But in the meantime, here is a convenient Girl Scout Cookie Locator

This year is the 92nd anniversary of The Girl Scout Cookie Program. It started out as a local event in Oklahoma and spread like, well, let's be honest, crack. Over the years diferent cookie varieties have come and gone. Recently they have come up with Lemon Chalet Cremes and Sugar-free Chocolate Chip. This year Dulce de Leche cookies were introduced. They have the thick, crumbly texture of packaged peanut butter cookies or Pecan Sandies with a light drizzle of cloyingly sweet caramel.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program teaches the girls leadership and "financial literacy." It teaches the rest of us that it is possible to eat an entire box of cookies without realizing it. To learn more, check out The Girl Scouts of Los Angeles.

Only Studio City, Glendale and Culver City has cookies! what about mid-city LA? whatevz. i'm on a diet anyway.

I went to Larchmont last Saturday to get some Thin Mints but they didn't have any so I bought 4 boxes of Tag-A-Longs
I'm gonna try to get some Thin Mints again tomorrow though hell or high water

Wow! Kudos for your case of Thin Mints purchase! I, on the other hand, was able to practice restraint I thought I didn't have, even with a co-worker selling the crack, I mean, cookies.

One scout has been buying a booth at the Woodman Avenue Farmers Market in Sherman Oaks. Seen her for two weeks in a row, I bet she's getting a return on investment

I saw a cartload of cookies (maybe 100 boxes) disappear within minutes the other day at UCLA. Probably helps that it's finals week and students are drowning their sorrows in a box of cookies.

I got two boxes from a woman at work who's daughter had them. I don't even like mint. I'm just hoarding! (I also got 2 boxes of my favorite, tagalongs. And 1 of samoas. And 1 of lemon chalet cremes.)

Seriously, I saw some during the day on the CSUN campus last week, and I've seen them the past few weeks at the Hollywood Farmer's Market.

I have 2/3 of a box here. Maybe I should auction off the rest.

Go hit up the West Hollywood Cannabis Club. I'm sure the girls could sell a bunch there. I like those carmel ones with coconut...

Sunday mornings in front of the Albertson's on Hillhurst.

i'm a lard @$$. i thought i'd share. i bought three boxes and only shared about a box worth. i ate 2 boxes!! ah well. loved them -- thin mint, lemon chalets and the new dulce whatevers (the 3 mentioned in this here story, interesting ...)
