KCET's SoCal Connected blogger Val Zavala shared this photo a couple of days ago, which spotlights a bizarre sight in our city. Says Zavala, of the mysterious floating telephone pole: "L.A. has some strange sights. But this one is a winner. I took this photograph in Silverlake on March 10th. My caption is attached, but I invite you all to add your own. (No, I did NOT photoshop it.)." The caption? A note to the man in Washington DC who is handing out money to help cities stay, er, afloat: "Dear Mr. President, We've got a little infrastructure problem here. Would you mind throwing a little stimulus money our way?" Anyone know what the deal with the pole is?

Looks like it's at the intersection of Glendale and Fletcher. Since it's secured by ground cabling and is obviously somewhat self-supporting (or self-levitating), my guess is it might be a repair job in which plans are to replace the pole without having to down and disconnect what are probably crucial lines serving the area.

Where is this? I want to see for myself

It's cause a car rammed into the pole last month. The pole is still sitting in pieces on the ground right by the sidewalk.

yes, it's at Glendale and Fletcher in front of the Subway sandwich place.

I got detoured around the accident that took out the pole over 3 weeks ago. I drive past it everyday, I was amazed when it wasn't fixed in a couple days, at this point I'm wondering if somebody forgot about it.
