Did You Receive Voting Information in the Mail?

ballotsample1.jpg We're hearing more and more of rumors and rumblings that residents in Los Angeles did not receive their sample or vote-by-mail ballot. Even LA resident and Secretary of State Debra Bowen was left out. But as she pointed out, there could be a variety of factors involved beyond a city gaffe including post office delivery, mailroom mistakes at condos, etc. But we want to hear from you in the comment section below. If you live in Los Angeles and are a registered voter, did you get information on yesterday's election?

Yay! Invetigative reporting on LAIST!

I got it 3 weeks ago
If I don't receive my info like a week before I go online and get it for myself.
She's probably lying or lazy

She voted provisionally and was very confident her vote would count. She's not lying, nor is she lazy, she's one of the most respected and accessible politicians in the state.

then how come she couldn't get the info for herself?

All she did was say she didn't receive it. She didn't say she missed the election, she knew exactly what to do and where to go. Just like you, she went online and got it herself.

I'm in 90026, got everything I needed, mailed it back last week, no problems.

BTW Debra Bowen rocks! She put a stop to Diebold being crammed down our throats. It was a campaign promise, and it was actually kept.

I didn't receive it, and after an informal poll at Hulu I counted 8 others who live in the City of LA who didn't receive theirs.

Nope, 90020 - don't remember ever not getting mine before but didn't get it this time.

I wonder if it was a bigger issue in specific areas. I got mine some days back and I am right up against Inglewood's east border with LA.

90068 here and I didn't receive it.

90005 and I didn't get anything. I ended up looking online.

my husband and i, in 90031, both received ours. but i know 2 friends who didn't. one in 90027 and one in 90026.

I live in an apartment building with in Beachwood Canyon. I never received a sample ballot for the 3/3/09 election. I've asked two of my neighbors, and they didn't receive sample ballots either.

My polling place is Cheremoya Elementary School, located on the corner of Franklin & Beachwood. There were no other voters at this polling place when I arrived just before 10am. I walked up to the table and told the poll workers that I never received my sample ballot. They pointed me to the next table, where several sample ballots were laid out. Not one of them was in English.

The poll worker flipped past three pages of registered voters before finding my name. I didn't see one voter's signature. They told me that no other voter had turned up over the past 30 minutes.

I didn't get anything either... in Studio City. I went online to confirm where I was supposed to go, and the location had changed from the usual place. The staff at the location also informed me that it was very low turn out... by the time I got there, late in the afternoon, I was only the 71st person to vote. I wonder if the lack of voter info, tied with the change in location, could have added to low turnout in my area??

90026, and I got my sample ballot sometime in early-mid February. Then I left it at home yesterday and before leaving work for the polling place that evening I found I was able to review a downloadable PDF of the booklet on the LA City Clerk's web site.

90066 and got mine at least three weeks ago.

90291 - Not only did I not receive my ballot but there was quite a bit of confusion at my polling place. The couple behind me had already been to 2 other places - the first listed on their ballot, the 2nd they were directed to by the people at the first and the 3rd they were directed to by the people at the second. Unfortunately for them, at the third place they were directed back to the first. I wonder if they went back or gave up.

That said, the polling volunteers at my site (a new location) were really nice. I shoulda brought them donuts.

I was able to get all the info I needed on LAvote.net

Also in 90066, and got mine weeks ago.

i'm in 90027 and I did not. :(

I didn't get one, but I'm in Glendale (91203) and we didn't have any measures on the ballot, so I'd assumed that's why.

I was working the polls yesterday and a lot of people in my zip code said they did not receive theirs either. That and there were a few provisional ballots filled out because either the clerk hadn't updated people's records or for some other reason unbeknownst to anyone. 91040

Yup, I got mine in 90027. But when I got to the polls at 8:45, they said I was only the 4th person to show up. Yikes.

I never got mine. Sherman Oaks--91403.

By the way, my boyfriend got his and he's at the same address.

Received sample ballot 2 weeks ago. Never got my vote-by-mail. Had to cast a provisional ballot.

90027, my boyfriend and I both got our stuff.

I've had mail that wasn't for me delivered back to me *twice* after I wrote 'not at this address' on it, so I don't find it to hard to believe that the post office just lost stuff in a lot of cases.

90041, got mine. and glad I did, my voting place changed to some random strip-mall restaurant. Also, I might not have remembered to get myself a crash-course on mayoral candidates had I not gotten the snail mail reminder!

90034, i got mine and so did my roommate but it was a little later than when my boyfriend got his at 90005. also, a friend of mine in brentwood, never received anything. and hes employed by the government!

Yes, both my wife and I got them

Got sample ballot just fine in 90029, but if their was a voter guide from the State Registrar, never got that. Debra Bowen is not one of the baddies, btw. We like her.

90068, received at least 3 weeks ago

Yup got it her in Sherman Oaks, followed by a postcard with a "change" of poll location back to the place I always vote at.

didn't get it either! (91203) is it because I live in Glendale?
